At 12:15 AM this morning, our family playhouse tree, portrait tree, shade tree, and monkey climbing tree came tumbling down!! I heard a pop and then several creeks and crashes!! Two of our Elkins Police Officers were in our yard within 15 minutes checking on us to see if everyone was OK. Bill never even woke up!!! Then they called the Washington County Dispatcher to contact Jacob & Crystal, who arrived with the real expert (Wyatt) around 1:00 am to assess the damage! Wyatt took Jacob's flashlight and walked all around that tree looking things over, in the dark! He also kept trying to go out to the ditch beside the road which was FULL of water after the downpours!!! He was really wanting to get in that water!! It was so cute!!! However, there is absolutely NO DAMAGE to the house! We are sooooo blessed!!
The neighbors on both sides of us are sisters, and they remember their Mother planting this tree from a little "sprig". We have been told that Mimosa Trees ordinarily don't have a real long tree life, but it's still sad to see it go down!! I guess with all the rain and the soggy ground, it just wasn't strong enough to keep holding on!

Quinton got home from school in time to help Papaw with the tractor work!!

wow, ha... Kinda funny everybody came out to look at it in the middle of the night though. But we need a little excitement once in a while.
